Hundreds of degree programs - not offered by Vermont's public colleges - are available with a significant discount on out-of-state tuition at public colleges in the five other New England states. As a permanent resident of a New England state, a student is eligible for the RSP when enrolled in an approved degree program offered by a specific public college or university in another New England state. Information on approved majors (associate, bachelor's and graduate) is available under "Tuition Break" and then "Find a Program" at http://www.nebhe.org/ Other information is also available on that website and pamphlets are also available in the School Counseling Office.
Vermont Lions Hart Memorial Award: One $,1000.00 award will be given. This program is for a graduating high school senior that has a disability or debilitating illness, either physically or mentally, who is in need of financial assistance and is planning to attend college upon graduation from high school. Dr. Alice Angney Scholarship for Leadership and Service 2021: One $3,000.00 scholarship is provided by the Vermont Superintendents Association. Vermont residents demonstrating a commitment to further their education after graduation may apply. Selection criteria: The selected recipient will have demonstrated initiative in overcoming a specific challenge or challenges, leadership and service to their community as well as academic achievement. Application is available in the School Counseling Office or may be completed on-line Application deadline: All materials must be received in the VSA office no later than noon, Monday, March 15, 2021.
Ben Kinson Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship was established to assist students who wish to pursue careers related to vocational trades and/or post-secondary education. Graduating seniors who have played hockey at MUHS OR attended the Hannaford Career Center are eligible to apply. Application is available in the School Counseling Office or here. Application Deadline: 3:30 pm Friday, March 26, 2021 - please note that the application needs a signature from either your hockey coach OR teacher at Hannaford Career Center as well as your school counselor. The Knights of Columbus Vermont State Council Annual Scholastic Achievement Awards Program: Five $1,000.00 scholarships will be awarded. Seniors who are sons or daughters of a Knight of Columbus are eligible to apply. An Applicant may be a member of the Knights of Columbus. Application packet is available in the School Counseling Office. Application deadline: Applications must be returned to the scholarship chair by March 30, 2021. Important note: There is a section of this application that needs to be completed by your School Counselor - please be sure your counselor receives the form and your request to complete it before March 22 so the deadline can be met. BPOE #916 Scholarship Program: Scholarships are provided by the local Burlington Elks Lodge (BPOE #916). Children, step-children, grandchildren, step-grandchildren and legal wards of a member of the local Burlington Elks Lodge. Application is available in the School Counseling Office. Application deadline: Completed application must be received by the scholarship chairperson on or before March 31, 2021.
Ray E. Davison Scholarship 2021: This scholarship is sponsored by the Addison County Firefighters Association (ACFA). A minimum of two $500 scholarships will be awarded. Eligibility to apply: high school senior planning to attend postsecondary education, be a resident within the ACFA service district, either plan to enter a career in the fire service, fire protection or prevention OR be a child of an ACFA firefighter. The American Legion Department of Vermont Scholarships: The American Legion Department of Vermont will award $7,500.00 in scholarships this year. Any senior applying to further their education after graduation at college or university should apply for this scholarship. Application is available in the School Counseling Office and/or by clicking here. Application deadline is April 1, 2021.
VT EPSCoR Center for Workforce Development and Diversity Scholarship: $5,000.00 scholarships are being offered. To be eligible,an applicant must be: A Vermont resident and US citizen, a graduating senior at a Vermont High School planning to attend a Vermont college during the next academic year, enrolling in a STEM major in college and of Native American ancestry OR a first generation college student. Vermont Association of Educational Office Professionals (VAEOP) Scholarship: This $500 scholarship is given in memory of Marion T. Wood. The applicant must intend to continue their education in an educational office-related business program. Application, including more specific eligibility requirements, is available in the School Counseling Office. Deadline: Application and supporting documents must be postmarked on or before April 1, 2021.
AFSCME Local 1201 Union Scholarship: This is a $250 scholarship. Current and retired members’ of AFSCME 1201 children and grandchildren who are currently Seniors attending High School in Rutland and Addison Counties in VT are eligible to apply. At least one year of continuous union membership by the affiliated member is required. The one-year membership minimum must be satisfied by May 31, 2021. Application is available in the School Counseling Office. Application Deadline: Completed applications must be returned to the School Counseling Office on or before 12 noon Friday, April 9, 2021.
Sons of the American Legion Dennis Comai Scholarship: One $1,000.00 and one $500.00 scholarship will be awarded. Any student who is planning to attend a trade school or technical college and whose grandparent, parent or sibling are a member of the American Legion Family (American Legion, Ladies Auxiliary or Sons of the American Legion) are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Middlebury Community Players' Scholarship: Two $1,000.00 scholarships will be awarded to students planning to attend college. To be eligible, applicants must have worked with the Middlebury Community Players (MCP) in some regard over the course of middle school and/or high school, either participating in a production, or assisting at an MCP-sponsored event, such as our costume sale. One Credit Union Scholarship: One $1,000.00 scholarship will be awarded. This scholarship is for Vergennes Union High School students only who are members of One Credit Union(membership eligibility). The St. Andrew's Society of Vermont Scholarship: Three $1,000.00 scholarships will be awarded. This scholarship is for Vermont residents; therefore any VUHS student enrolling in an associate's or Bachelor's degree program should apply for this scholarship. Application is available in the School Counseling Office. Application deadline: Deadline for receipt of application is 5 pm April 21, 2021.
Heritage Family Credit Union Scholarship (HFCU): Four $1,000.00 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors who intend to pursue further education at a college, trade school or university. To be eligible to apply, seniors must be currently enrolled in a high school in the Heritage Family Credit Union's field of membership - VUHS falls into this field of membership - so all VUHS seniors pursuing further education are eligible to apply. Ceres Continuous Harvest Scholarship: In 2021, two scholarships of $1000 each may be awarded. If you are a senior at MUHS, VUHS, MAUHS, or the Hannaford Career Center and you have plans to pursue a career in a sustainable agriculture or environmental practice that will help to preserve the Vermont landscape and quality-of-life, please apply for this year’s scholarships. Your course of study could include such fields as natural resource management, forestry, environmental science, wildlife biology, ecological agriculture, sustainable landscape horticulture, green building and community design, animal or veterinary science, dairy science, etc., etc., etc. Application is available in the School Counseling Office. WiseGeek Entrepreneurship Matters Scholarship: The WiseGeek Entrepreneurship Matters Scholarship is a $500 scholarship open to students with an entrepreneurial spirit. Entrepreneurship can change the world, but it’s not easy. From choosing an idea to scaling a business, there are countless challenges on the entrepreneurial journey. Sleepless nights, daunting challenges, and failure are all a part of the day-to-day life of an entrepreneur. The WiseGeek Entrepreneurship Matters Scholarship exists to make the entrepreneurial journey more accessible. The scholarship will support an ambitious and bold entrepreneur who wants to build a business that makes the world a better place. League of Women Voters of Vermont Winona Smith Scholarship: A $1,000.00 scholarship will be awarded. This scholarship will be awarded to a senior, resident of Vermont, who has demonstrated an interested in civic participation and community service, who has a need for financial aid, and who is highly recommended by a teacher. Members Advantage Community Credit Union and River Valley Credit Union Scholarship: 12 scholarships will be awarded in amounts ranging from $500 to $1,000 to a graduating senior. The student must be a member of the credit union at the time of application. Application and membership information and requirements are available in the School Counseling Office. Vermont Golf Association Scholarship: Students who have a current and active affiliation with the game of golf such as competing on a golf team, working at a golf course, and/or participating in golf programs or events are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Lyric Theatre Company Delano-Nulty Award 2021: A $2,000.00 scholarship will be awarded to an area high school senior who is pursuing education in the performing arts. Application is available in the School Counseling Office or here. Application deadline: Completed application and letters of reference must be received no later than Friday, May 7, 2021.
Addison County Farm Bureau Scholarship: Addison County Farm Bureau encourages postsecondary education of potential spokespersons for food and fiber production in Addison County and beyond. ACFB supports students who recognize the importance of maintaining Vermont’s rural character and economic viability. Students must exhibit a desire to enhance our Natural Resource based industries including horticulture, forestry, aquaculture, and production agriculture through communications and education of the non agricultural community. To be eligible to receive this scholarship the applicant must: be a high school senior planning to attend college, be an Addison County Resident, and exhibit academic worthiness. The Award amount will be $500. The amount will be payable and sent directly to the recipient upon notification to the committee that they are continuing their second semester. WiseGeek LGBTQ+ Awareness Scholarship: The WiseGeek LGBTQ+ Awareness Scholarship exists to support the dreams and aspirations of LGBTQ+ youth across the country. WiseGeek Disability Scholarship: The WiseGeek Disability Scholarship is a $500 scholarship supporting students with mental or physical challenges. To support those with disabilities, the WiseGeek Disability Scholarship will be awarded to one student at any grade level or field of study who has a disability and large ambitions for their life.
