I started teaching at VUHS in 2008. I feel lucky to have landed at such an interesting school in this wonderful community. Before arriving at Vergennes, I completed my Masters in Teaching at the University of Vermont, and I worked as a student teacher at U-32 High School. I have also spent time working as a paraeducator in South Burlington, an AmeriCorps volunteer in an alternative middle and high school in Oregon, and as an experiential educator at a residential middle school program in Maine. Before that, I was a Business Logistics major at Penn State University.
Here are a few other things you might be interested in knowing about me: I grew up near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with three younger brothers, two parents, and one dog. I seem to find myself almost constantly playing, coaching or watching soccer, but I'm trying to teach myself to also be a runner. The problem is that my brain and legs don't always like to take part in my running activities! I also like to hike (see the photo I took last summer of Mt. Katahdin in Maine above), read, cook, cheer on Penn State football teams, and ski. My least favorite cute animals are pandas, and my most favorite goofy-looking animals are moose! This year, in addition to teaching 7th grade Language Arts, I am looking forward to coaching middle school girls soccer and leading some after school classes. Right now I hope they will be knitting and yoga.
