Co-Principals Chamberlin & Jones

Jody Chamberlin, Principal speaking at the 2026 graduation

Jody Chamberlin: I’m thrilled to be in my fifth year at VUMHS, bringing a total of 18 years in education.  The 2026-2027 school year is kicking off with a change to our model as we are no Co-Principals

My journey has included 13 years as a Social Studies teacher and one year as a School Counselor, providing me with a well-rounded perspective on teaching and student support. Each year in this field brings new challenges, growth, and excitement, and I’m grateful to continue learning and leading alongside our incredible community.

My educational philosophy:

I believe that education should nurture the whole person. Every individual has the capacity to learn, and it is our responsibility as educators to cultivate trust, compassion, and curiosity. Building meaningful relationships requires honesty and vulnerability, and I strive to model those values every day. Above all, I believe that actions speak louder than words, and I aim to lead with integrity and purpose.

Outside the School
When I’m not at school, I enjoy exploring the beauty of Vermont, especially through nature photography—though I save this for the warmer months! In winter, you’ll often find me immersed in a great TV series.

I also have a passion for travel, particularly to historical sites that connect to the stories I once taught in my Social Studies classroom. This year, I’m focusing on exploring more of Addison County and all it has to offer.

Reading is a big part of my life, and I’m currently diving into graphic novels and reading novels on my Kindle app. Since January 2026, I’ve completed 39 books, with a goal of reaching 72 by December.

If you’re looking for recommendations, I suggest The Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo.  This is my all-time favorite series.  I also really enjoy mystery and horror, so I appreciated the graphic novel: The Nice House on the Lake: The Deluxe Edition by James Tynion.

What I Bring to VUHS
I bring energy and enthusiasm for education every day. While education can be challenging, it’s also deeply rewarding. The students, families, and staff at VUHS make this a special place, and I am proud to be part of a community that values learning, growth, and collaboration.

A Vision for VUHS
This year, I hope to see us continue strengthening our systems and structures, which in turn help support outcomes for all students.  Everyone in this building is doing their work to support student growth.

Let’s Collaborate Together
Whether we’re working hard in classrooms or enjoying a slice of pie at a school event, I am excited to see our school continue to thrive.

Co-Principal Andrew Jones

Andrew Jones has worked in public schools for nearly two decades.

His career in education began in 2008 at Lincoln Community School, where his experience as a paraprofessional inspired him to pursue teaching. By 2010, he transitioned into the classroom full-time as a high school science teacher at Mt. Abraham Union High School in Bristol. Over the past nine years Andrew has honed his instructional leadership skills, focusing on improving education systems at the district level, first as a director of curriculum and most recently as an assistant superintendent.

Andrew holds a deep commitment to fostering equitable and inclusive learning environments that are focused on preparing students for a rapidly changing world. Always striving to learn and improve, in 2019 Andrew completed his doctorate in educational leadership & policy studies from the University of Vermont.

In his spare time Andrew enjoys being outdoors, especially ice climbing, rock climbing, mountain biking, and backcountry skiing. He lives in Lincoln with his wife, Krista, and their two children, Eammon and Lena.

Overview of Co-Principal Leadership Structure at VUHS

A multitude of different school leadership models exist, each with its own set of particular strengths and weaknesses. Beginning in the 2026-2027 school year, VUHS will be utilizing a co-principal leadership structure. This model has been used extensively across Vermont high schools over the last several decades. Currently, Winooski, Harwood, and Leland & Grey high schools (among others) are using a co-principal model. Rather than a “traditional” administrator structure with a principal and assistant principal, the co-principalship allows for a more distributed approach to school leadership. The VUHS co-principals, Jody Chamberlin and Andrew Jones, will share many responsibilities, while also each taking the lead on certain tasks that complement their areas of strength.

They are very excited for this new opportunity and look forward to supporting the growth of our students and the strength of our community. Reach out if you have any needs.
