Camie Thompson has spent the last two years out at Walden as an AmeriCorps member of the Walden team. This year she joins the school staff as a Science Educator who is teaching and guiding students in the Walden program. While she has a love of all things science she also has the skill and excitement of teaching in a flexible pathways that spends the days outside in nature’s classroom. We are lucky to have Camie join our staff and know that it is leaving Walden in very capable hands.
Emily Rossier has returned to Vergennes. Emily used to work in our Walden program but left to pursue other avenues. However, she missed being a Commodore so when the Social Emotional Learning Coordinator position opened up she was very excited. She has a lot of experience working with students. She has goals that students have a safe space to be and that all students are finding success within the walls of Vergennes. We really appreciate having her back in the building.

Emily Pearl is a Counseling Service of Addison County (CSAC) clinician. She will be working in our building on Mondays and Tuesdays this year. We are grateful that we have two clinicians in our building every day now. Emily is a kind and caring colleague and we are happy to have her on board.
Alex Benfatti joins us this year as our Assistant Athletic Director and the Athletic Trainer. Not only does she make sure that our students are taking care of their injuries to play well and play safe she also attends student band performances for our students. While she has only been with our students since the start of this season she has already made a big impact in their lives by teaching preventative measures to keep them safe and healthy.
Irena Pavlin interned here during the fall semester of the 2022-2023 school year with Lynn Kayhart and Nancy Ambrose. We are thrilled that she has chosen to return as a full-time Math educator at Vergennes Union High School. Since she already knows our five guidelines and school expectations she has eased right into the school year. She loves the math and she enjoys working with the students. She is a wonderful addition to our community; we are fortunate that she chose us.
Rebecca Edelman comes to us from California. She has always had a love for Vermont and even has family here. She is excited to become a Commodore and has enjoyed the start of the school year. She jumped right into her role as School Counselor through the drop/add period and has already developed strong connections with our students.
Sam Pettorini comes to us from the Horizons Alternative Program. This year he is serving our Math Department as a co-teacher of Math 1 and Math 2. He is also a Math Interventionist and is already working one-on-one with students to support them in their math needs. Even though it has been less than one month he has already connected with students and supported them in achieving success in the math classroom.
Juliette joins us as a Para Educator in our Special Education Department. Her first day was this week and she just jumped right in. We are excited to get to know her as she has joined our community later this year. She will be supporting students in their classes and during their Compass time.
