As mentioned in last week’s eNews message, the JumpRope grading portal was opened on Friday and login information emailed to students and guardians. If you didn’t receive an email, your student did receive one at their VUHS email address. JumpRope provides one portal with the same login information for both parents and students. Email Stephanie ([email protected]) if you have trouble accessing the site.
When you log in, please note that not all teachers have had a chance to begin scoring as it is still early in the year and this is a new grading platform. Reviewing JumpRope may prompt some questions, so there is an information session from 7-8 pm during Open House on Wednesday, September 18. During the presentation we’ll review the information contained in the Proficiency-Based Handbook and answer questions about JumpRope. So that we can have accurate information available, please use this google survey to record your questions. We will attempt to answer as many questions as we can in the presentation and we’ll also post responses on the website following the session.
Open House allows students and families, on their own, to visit classes, tour the building, and learn about different opportunities in the cafeteria during the first hour, 6:00-7:00 pm. The information session will begin at 7:00 pm in the auditorium. Please note that Open House is an opportunity to meet your student’s teachers but inquiries about academic progress should be saved for parent conferences which are at the end of October. Any teacher is willing to schedule a meeting to give more detailed information about your student’s academic progress. You will find contact info on the school website here.
We hope the open format for the first hour allows you and your student to see the classes and teachers you want, while doing so at your own pace. If you are not able to access your student’s schedule on PowerSchool, please email Jay ([email protected]) to either get access or have a printed copy of the schedule available at the main office.
We look forward to seeing many of you Wednesday evening.
Stephanie, Ed & Jay

Peace One Day (POD) is September 21st every year, which in 2019 falls on a Saturday. This year 9/21 is also the day of an international climate summit. VUHS has been celebrating Peace One Day for many years and this year is no exception. Because it falls on a Saturday, we will celebrate Peace One Day on Friday, September 20th with a full day of activities (workshops in the morning for all students and the peace rally in the afternoon). We will also recognize the focus on climate change throughout the day. Anyone is welcome to join us from 12:45-2:45 on the varsity soccer field (high school gym if it’s raining). Students are diligently planning this event as they do each year. Learn more about POD by visiting the official website at www.peaceonday.org.
You can also view any of these videos/information to learn more about the day.
