Three Seasons Testing: Chemical, Bacteriological, and Benthic:
on-site testing at Vergennes Falls
bussing for three consecutive days - 20 students each day
establish groups and designated locations
establish testing stations - one station for each test < each station supported by parent volunteers
provide benthic collection and examination materials
provide multiple and readable copies of each test (include benthic keys)
provide Field Manual for Water Quality Monitoring by Mitchell and Stapp, 1995
provide data collection sheets of all tests for each group
provide calculators and assistance

Winter and Spring Site Visits:
prediction based activities using testing procedures to support hypotheses about climactic influences on water quality

Symposiums:
on water quality, pollution, social responsibility to environment and communities. Combines student work in language arts and social studies with river studies.
