The Westminster Massacre

My report is on the Westminster massacre. The Westminster massacre took place on the Delaware river and New Conneticut, which is now Vermont.

The Westminster massacre all started with people living in Bennington who didn't like the New York government. Then the people in New York were quarreling with people from Bennington about land because New Yorkers wouldn't give grants for land even though the people were willing to pay for the land.

Some westsiders were angry with Yorkers that Ethan Allen was stirring up trouble. Then they started calling Ethan a "godless man". People in both areas were getting angry at King George III Every day. People of Westminster met at the court house in October of 1774. The court party was planning to take over the court house, but there opponents decided to beat them to it.They wanted courts that wouldn't be based in favor of Yorkers.

Anti Yorkers went to the court house and wet into the court house and wouldn't come out so the sheriff and Tories were called in to take care of the problem.they shouted back and forth to each other.

Anti Yorkers are people from Vermont who didn't like people from New York.Tories favored the British in fights.

After about seven hours of shouting back and forth, the Sheriff and Tories told the anti Yorkers to leave and there wouldn't be any trouble. The anti Yorkers still refused to leave. Then somewhere in the crowd of Tories, someone yelled "well shout the rascals out".Then the sheriff shouted "fire" and gun shots were fired into the building to drive people out of the building
