African American Studies

The course provides students the opportunity for an in-depth study of African-American culture and history. The focus is on traditional and social histories, movements and settlements, human rights and citizenship, diversity and unity, economics, conflicts and conflict resolution, identity and interdependence. Students will complete
performance assessments, address focusing questions, read primary and secondary sources, access websites, view and analyze audio-visual sources, and work in cooperative groups.
