Commodore Parent-Teacher Group
Who Are We? We are a group of parents, teachers, and administrators who began meeting December 2010. Just as the Boosters support athletics and Friends of Music supports the music program, our purpose is to support academics at VUHS. Mission Statement "To encourage and support academic achievement through the promotion of family involvement in the school, enrichment programs, and communication between parents, teachers and administrators." What Activities Are We Engaged In? As a new group, we are still formulating our role within the school. We have identified our key areas of commitment as (1) facilitating communication between the school, teachers, and parents, (2) providing enrichment programs for the students, (3) lending support to school initiatives and (4) helping to build a stronger school community. To date, we have provided baked goods for students during NECAP testing, initiated a school walk-through by PIRC (Parent Information Resource Center) for the purpose of making our school more family-friendly, lent support for the middle school reading raffle, raised the funding for the free family passes to the Maritime Museum and organized the 2011 Back to School Night. In December we begun "VUHS e-News". Each week a parent liaison for each grade level gathers news, announcements, and information from VUHS staff/faculty about happenings and upcoming events. Each Friday parents who we have email addresses for will receive an e-News email. If you do not receive this email, contact Jay at jstetzel(at)anwsu.org to be added to the list. If you have student-related news/information to send to parents, email one of the CPTG co-chairs (see below). Annual Events Organized by the CPTG 1.
